What a shocker last week! Pia Toscano’s elimination from Idol may have been one of the most unexpected vote offs in Idol history. However, apparently Pia has been getting a lot of interest from A&M as well as Interscope. This will probably not be the last time we hear from Pia.
Which designer will be making Kate Middleton’s dress? British Vogue is sponsoring a bridal issue in May in honor of the Royal Wedding, and they are featuring several designers. However, there are no plans to feature a McQueen dress, fuelling rumors that Sarah Burton might make Kate’s dress. And we hear that Sir Elton John and his partner will definitely be attending the event.
Breaking news form the Ivory coast today – Laurent Gbagbo was captured. However, now Outtara has to try and create peace in a country divided by civil war for over twenty years.
Extending the woes of the nuclear industry, it is the 25th anniversary of the explosion at Chernobyl. Already crushed by the recent events in Japan, nuclear plants must now field speculations that the disaster in the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant in Japan may reach Chernobyl-like proportions. Furthermore, it now appears that the “sarcophagus” enshrouding the Soviet nuclear facility is degrading faster than anyone thought, prompting Russia to demand $600 million from the international community for repairs.
Many Americans, and even many American politicians, fail to grasp the implication of even suggesting that the US defaulting on it debt. If Congress does not raise the debt ceiling, it could end up flattening the economy and damaging the country’s credit rating.
Connie J. Jasperson’s new book “The Last Good Knight” has been received well and grows in readership daily. Compared to the great Wilbur Smith in her action and bawdy prose, she will be one of the great writers of fictional adventures to come.

American Idol/ Elizabeth Taylor/Donald Trump/ Libya/ Japan/ NFL/Alison DeLuca/ Connie J. Jasperson/ J. J. Makins/ J. Darroll Hall/ Ceri Clark/ Claire Chilton/ Marilyn Rucker Norrod/ Clu Gallagher/ Julianne Carlisle/
On American Idol Wednesday night, the top 11 from last week performed. Two performers will be eliminated Thursday. Idol showcased the music of Elton John.
The surprise triumph of the night was Haley, whose performances have generally been among the most criticized by this season’s very indulgent judges. She began with “Benny and the Jets” perched atop a piano – an odd strategy – and sang it at a slowed, almost bluesy beat. The judges were thrilled. Randy Jackson called it the “Best performance of the night.” Steven said, “You sing sexy!”
Elizabeth Taylor died Wednesday at age 79 of congestive heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Taylor won three Academy Awards, including a special one for her humanitarian work. She was the most loyal of friends and a defender of gays in Hollywood when AIDS was still a stigma in the industry and beyond. But she was afflicted by ill health, failed romances (eight marriages, seven husbands) and personal tragedy. “I think I’m becoming fatalistic,” she said in 1989. “Too much has happened in my life for me not to be fatalistic.”
Bill O’Reilly dismissed Donald Trump’s assertions about Barack Obama’s citizenship during an interview on Wednesday’s “O’Reilly Factor”. Trump has been causing outrage in many corners—from “The View” to CNN to MSNBC. O’Reilly said his show had looked into the claims about Obama’s birth certificate. Once they found the two Honolulu newspapers which announced his birth, he said he “put [the issue] to bed,” since “that is impossible to make happen” if Obama was not born in a Honolulu hospital. Trump then repeated the speculation that something on the birth certificate must be so radioactive that Obama is covering it up. “Maybe it says he’s a Muslim, I don’t know,” Trump said. “…If he wasn’t born in this country, it’s one of the great scams of this time.” O’Reilly finally said he didn’t believe that Trump was serious in his skepticism. “It’s provocative. I think it gets a lot of attention, but I don’t think you believe it,” he said.
The CIA has sent a small, covert team into rebel-held eastern Libya while the White House debates whether to arm the opposition. The operatives are in Libya to gather intelligence to help direct NATO airstrikes and to help train inexperienced rebel fighters. The move was authorized after President Obama signed what’s called a “finding,” a legal step necessary before the CIA can carry out secret operations.
Japanese engineers are struggling to gain control of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Four of the reactors are volatile and once under control will be scrapped. Workers are struggling to restart the cooling pumps in the reactors damaged by the 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami. They have drenched the fuel rods with seawater to cool the reactors. The plants have also been flooded by seawater when the tsunami hit. The challenge is to pump out radioactive seawater flooding the basements in reactors No.1, No.2 and No.3. The water is preventing work to restore electricity to the cooling pumps so that they can operate continuously. The dilemma is that while it is necessary to pump the water into the reactors to cool them, this increases the amount of radioactive waste water at the plant. There is a danger that the operator will run out of places to store it safely. Radiation may now be flowing continuously from the plant into the sea. Contamination is now 4,000 times the legal limit in the sea near the plant’s drains.
For the last couple of weeks, there hasn’t been a great deal to report in the possible NFL lockdown / strike. The lack of news has allowed the league and it’s information disseminating agencies to spin the message and obfuscate the facts. And with repetition, it seems to be working. The NFL issues statements directly to their own media outlets, and everyone else is content to report on what’s been reported, rather than pursue information on their own. Maybe what is needed are replacement owners. We have everything else in place but empty stadiums; financed for the most part by we the people, fans, and players. On April 6, a judge will rule on an injunction to lift the lockout. If the lockout is lifted, it will signal a major victory for players, and for fans as well. While the league will almost certainly appeal, this ruling is our best hope at having a 2011 NFL season.

Ceri Clark/Earthquake/ Tsunami/ nuclear fallout/ Connie J. Jasperson/ J. Darroll Hall/ Alison DeLuca/ J. J. Makins/ #1 bestseller/
Reprinted from cericlark.com
The earthquake, tsunami and problems with the nuclear power plant has put Japan in my thoughts lately. It really makes me think nuclear power is a fool’s way to get power. In this day and age surely we can harness the energy of the sun, wind and sea to power our lives? It might cost money and time but it would be worth it. Sure nuclear power is cheap, but then so is life when an area is ‘infected’ with radiation.
There are supposed to be so many fail-safes to stop reactors going wrong but there is always the unexpected – after all that is what the earthquake was or at least the magnitude of it.

Connie J. Jasperson/ Earthquake/ Tsunami/ donations/ nuclear fallout/ J. Darroll Hall/ Alison DeLuca/ J. J. Makins/ #1 bestseller/
The earthquake and resulting tsunami in Japan has reminded me of just how fragile our life here in the technological universe is. When we lose our supermarkets, our electricity and our ability to communicate via cellular phones we have lost everything that we consider basic to our survival. Most people nowadays do not have the ability to survive without supermarkets and electricity. When those things are gone we quickly begin to suffer the effects; and then when you add that misery to the sudden terrible lack of adequate housing and the inability of people to find transportation to places that might have these amenities you have an impossible situation. Fortunately, there are organizations that are willing to send in people and supplies to help the neediest to get their lives back on track again. We all know the American Red Cross is out there fighting the good fight, and so is the well known Catholic Relief Services.
I am also familiar with several other charities, one being Samaritan’s Purse http://speu01.samaritanspurse.org/t/219286/1732115/23/0/ and of another being the well known World Vision http://donate.worldvision.org/OA_HTML/ibeCZzdMinisites.jsp
You can make your donations to any of these fine organizations, and be sure that your donation will go to the people as you have intended it to.

March 10th 2011
American Idol roared off to a phenomenal start for season ten last night. The combination of Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and the anchor, Randy Jackson set the stage for a great season. Possible the best season yet, with the talent of the thirteen entrants for this season. I would not be surprised if this season tops all others and has more break-out music artist than another other season so far. A “I can’t miss Idol” season so far.

I would not be surprised to see what happened in Egypt happen right here in Wisconsin, the turmoil will become close to the same level. No people will stand for a stripping to the bone of their very right to decent work standards and competitive salary standards. This country was founded on that premise and the silent majority will awaken, if it has not already.
There is an ugliness creeping across this country, an ugliness designed to divide us as a people. Too slice and dice us into parts, so that we are no longer a whole as Americans. I know we are far smarter than that with what we have lived through and conquered as a nation.
The true silent majority will rise again; there will be many faces, races, religions, and ethnicities in this awaking... It is happening and Wisconsin is only the beginning. The great middle class of this nation are alive and will be well again, beware bankers and wall streeters.... WE THE PEOPLE DOES HAVE A MEANING!!!
